SERVING THE COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD
Point West Rotary sweeps the awards – again!  PWR’s generosity was on display at the annual District Foundation Dinner on November 18, 2023.  Awards were given to clubs based on giving to The Rotary Foundation during last Rotary term…and Point West Rotary scored in 4 categories!  Here are the results:
  • Annual Fund Giving – 3rd place with $28,107
  • Per Capita Annual Fund Giving – 3rd place with $437/member average
  • Polio Plus Giving – 2nd place with $14,165
  • Per Capita Polio Plus Giving – 3rd place with $143/member average
John Price, PWR president last term, accepted the awards on behalf of our club and our members.  While it is always great to be recognized for the generosity of our club members, it’s more important to know that we are helping so many people around the world in need – changing lives and making a difference!
Point West Rotary was awarded the annual Case-Pherigo California Eagle Service Award following Sunday’s Eagle Golf Tournament. The award recognizes volunteers that have continued the tradition of selflessness, dedication and compassion given toward the California Eagles Program.  This is the first time a group or organization has been awarded this honor!

Presenting the award was Janie Bucher from Eagle Golf and accepting on behalf of Point West Rotary is Eagle Golf co-chairperson, Bea Maurer.
Thanks to all the PWR members who participated this year. We look forward to another great year ahead.

Point West Rotary showed off why we're the Best Damn Rotary Club on the Planet at the recent District Conference in South Lake Tahoe!  PWR was named the Large Club of the Year thanks to the work of our President Mary Lyn Kagan, her board and all of our members just doing the amazing and incredible things we do to make the world a better place!

Also, several individuals from our club were recognized for their incredible efforts in Rotary.  Tom Cicchini received the Service Above Self Award - the highest level of award an individual Rotarian can receive!  Tom works tirelessly and donates his time, talent and treasures to support the eradication of polio and it was wonderful to see him recognized for his efforts.

Two other individuals also received very prestigious awards...both PP Gary Pevey and PDG Brian Moore were inducted into the District 5180 Hall of Fame.  This award is given to those Rotarians in our district who have been in Rotary at least 20 years and continues to serve the district, their club and Rotary.  Brian was presented his Hall of Fame plaque at his home shortly before his passing, but he knew that he had been inducted which was important.  Unfortunately, Gary was also not able to receive his award at the conference due to a medical issue he incurred at the conference.  But he will receive it in the near future.  No more than 6 Rotarians from our District can be inducted each year, so it was special to have both of them receive this recognition this year.

We were also awarded the ShelterBox Hero Silver Award for our club's support of all the good that ShelterBox does around the world!

PWR also brought home the Gold in the following categories:
  • Administration
  • Community & International Service
  • The Rotary Foundation
  • Public Image
  • Youth Services
Congratulations to all of the individual winners and all of our club members who made these awards possible!
